Short Story

A god dreamed: There was 1 God in existence. It was bored, so it tore a piece of itself off. The piece was universe sized. The God piece was a living thing and parts of it developed sentience. These parts created their own forms by cutting themselves from the first God piece - they willed it to happen, and it did. They wanted forms, so they could do something, and not be bored. These new gods used the remains of the 1 God piece to fashion the world and the stars.

Some of the gods loved to build different things. One created different types of insects. One created different types of rocks.

The gods created humans for something to watch.

Some gods desired to rule over humans and wanted to be worshiped. A god forced humans to fight by threatening them with consequences if they didn't. i.e. harm to their family and/or torture. He also influenced some humans to fight. i.e. by encouraging envy.

Because of the above, the good gods went to war with the bad gods to prevent evil and godly rule. Ranged magic blasts were exchanged. Some blasts collided. Some blasts were dodged. The situation for the good gods was dire, so one of the good gods, in an act of sacrifice, detonated his spirit core, causing a massive detonation. It took out some of his allies, and the remaining evil gods.

There is a city called Tora, located on a peninsula. An army from there conquered a nearby city called Guar. After that, the Torans invaded an island in the north called Albainia. They routed some coastal tribes. The Torans have better armor and a much larger army.

In a tribe further inland there is a 15 year old boy named Trin. He helps his mother Reya in her work as a healer. One day Trin was helping his mother tend to an injured man. As he was rubbing a herb on the man's wound, the wound very quickly healed. Trin had wanted the man to be made well, and so it happened. Gods had interbred with some of his people in the past. Occasionally one of his people would be born with magic abilities as a result of that. Since Trin had magic ability, it was believed that he had godblood.

Trin wanted to liberate his land. So he told his mother 'I want to fight for a free Albainia'. His mother understood that her son could help in a fight against the Torans. She also recognized that since he had godblood, other abilities could present themselves. So his mother said 'Of course you shall. You will also give our people courage because of your gift'. Then she packed him supplies. She then accompanied the tribe's warriors to meet with the warriors of 2 other tribes. Her services as a healer would be useful. The warriors knew Trin had a magical healing ability, and hence godblood/more potential powers. So they were encouraged by his support. Plus, the gods were possibly on their side. Some believed that they were - a godblood was on their side after-all. The warriors traveled to meet the Torans in battle. The Torans had twice as many troops.

The Toran king was personally commanding his troops.

The 2 sides clashed. Given Trin's medical knowledge, in the fight, after seeing Albainians fall, he wanted the king's heart to stop, so it happened. That caused a loss of morale for the Torans. Trin, having heard that the gods could shoot lightning, imagined it, and lightning shot from his fingers. He directed it over the heads of the Albainians, bringing it down into the ranks of the Torans. This broke the will of the Torans, who didn't know how many of these attacks could occur. The Albainians cheered. Another lightning attack followed. Then another. Then the Torans surrendered. The Albainians lifted Trin into the air. But he had healing to do, so he didn't stay aloft. After Trin was finished healing people - he took breaks for his magic energy to replenish - they had a feast.

The Toran prisoners wanted to worship Trin since he had powers, and since their king had been defeated. The Torans had believed their emperor was a god. Trin thought 'Should I rule as a good leader to bring about good? Or should I let the Torans make their own decisions? They may have learned the lesson about what can happen if you try to conquer other nations. It is good to let people have the freedom to make their own decisions; it is evil to take that from them. So each people should determine their own destiny. The Torans aren't my people'. Trin explained these things to the Torans. Trin then said 'go back to your people and tell them to go back to their land, or else'!

The brother of the deceased king had remained in Guar in case the king died in battle. The brother used some trickery that appeared as magic. So the Torans believed him to be a god. The brother promised the Torans a place in the afterlife if they would fight for him. Therefore they were willing to resist the Albainians. The brother went to the Toran capital because he was afraid.

The Torans would need to be defeated, as there might not be another godblood on Albainia for some time. News could break out from Albainia that there wasn't a godblood around in the future. For coin, someone could reveal that there wasn't a godblood around.

The Albainians crossed the channel to liberate Guar and to totally defeat the Torans. In the battle for Guar, Trin directed lightning over an Albainian vanguard shield wall. He then envisioned a huge slab of rock (he only had enough magic energy to create 1 in this battle) in mid-air above a portion of the enemy troops - gravity did the rest. That took out a good portion of the enemy troops, and scared the Torans. The Albainians later won the battle.

The Albainians later arrived outside the walls of the Toran capital. Slow moving beams of blue light fell from the sky. (the beams weren't solid in color/appearance. There was some minor shifting in position, and some white on an outer side, from time to time) This skyborne phenomenon was power from a god, sent to give Trin more power. As the blue beams rained down towards Trin, he was guided by that god to open his mouth to consume the power. That replenished Trin's magical energy, and gave him more power than normal. Trin was then guided by a god to do the following: Trin held his hands above his head. He created a boulder there, hanging in mid air. He then moved his hands forward, sending the boulder smashing through the main gate, injuring Toran soldiers on the other side. Trin then shot lightning through the opening at the Torans. It spread from Toran to Toran, finishing off the defenders near the main entrance. By this time, Trin's magic energy was depleted. There weren't many Toran soldiers left, so it was quick work for the Albainians to finish them off. The king was taken prisoner. With guidance from a god, Trin told the Torans that there were no gods on this world; that any magic was only a gift from the gods. Trin was then instructed by the god to tell the Torans that the man who had been the king had no magic. Trin let the Torans decide what to do with the ex-king. The ex-king was killed by his own people, as they no longer believed him to be a god. (after all, he had also failed to win)
